As part of the plan to build a dossier of intangible cultural heritage proposed to be included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022, on the morning of May 10th, at the community house in Thanh Tam village, Cam Thanh commune, Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation (Hoi An Center) has coordinated with the locality to organize a community consultation on the making bamboo and coconut houses in Cam Thanh.

Attending the consultation session, there were representatives of the Hoi An Center’s leaders and officials, and more than ten senior citizens with experience in making bamboo and coconut houses. The craftsmen provided a lot of information related to the history, culture, products and production tools as well as production experiences, customs, beliefs, abstinence in the production process and typical people.

Based on the information of the consultation session, the Hoi An Center continue to conduct surveys and in-depth interviews to supplement data and make record of intangible cultural heritage of the making bamboo and coconut houses in Cam Thanh to submit to all agencies for consideration and inclusion in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the coming time.
